About The Role

Location: Salisbury

Our Client, Sebastian is recruiting for a team of Support Workers for a variety of hours on a permanent and fixed term contract as listed below on a 2-week rota.

Days & Hours: 
Permanent Hours: 
Term time
Week 1: Friday 19.45-08.00 (wake night) and Sunday 19.45-08.00 (wake night). 
Week 2: Thursday 16.30 - 1900 Friday, 16.30-08.00 (sleep night), Saturday 18.45-08.00 x 2 (wake night and sleep night), and Sunday 18.45-08.00 (Sleep night), 

School Holidays Hours:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7.45-19.00.  Friday 1845 - 0800 (wake night), Sunday 1845 - 0800  (wake night)
Week 2: Monday, WednesdayThursday and Friday 7.45-19.00.  Friday18 45 - 08.00 (sleep night) and Saturday 18.45-08.00 x2  (wake night and sleep) Sunday 1845 - 0800 (wake night)

Maternity Leave until June 2022:
Week 1 term time: Thursday 16.30-08.00 (sleep night) 
Week 2 term time: Friday 16.30-08.00 (wake night) and Sunday 18.45-08.00 (wake night). 
Week 1 school holiday: Thursday 18.45-08.00 (wake night). 
Week 2 school holiday: Friday 18.45-08.00 (wake night) and Sunday 15.45-08.00 (sleep night)

We are also looking for Bank Support Workers to cover absences of the current team.

Pay and Benefits: Support Worker: £12.50 per hour Monday to Friday, £14.50 per hour Saturday and Sunday.  £NLW for sleep in nights (NLW is £8.91 per hour for aged 23+).  5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata. DBS check, full induction, relevant and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate) On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.

Essential: 
Supporting adults with Cerebral Palsy and aware of emotional, behavioural, and cognitive difficulties.
Driver - You will be required to drive our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), (automatic).
Pets in the home:  Please be aware that there is a dog and two cats in the family home.
Desirable: Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Interviews and Start Date: As and when applications are received, these may be carried out by video interview and looking to start as soon as possible  

Sebastian is in his early twenties he is bright, alert and has a caring nature with a fantastic sense of humour.  He likes his electric guitar and attending all types of concerts, either with his family and/or support workers. 

Sebastian has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.  Working mainly within the family home, Sebastian will require full assistance with his daily living, monitoring of medical supplies, arranging activities he enjoys and chooses. You will be required to support him with accessing the community by planning and arranging social activities.  You may be required to accompany Sebastian on holiday, which may include his family. Sebastian requires 2:1 care 24/7.

You will be joining a team where you will be taking direction from the Case Manager, Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader to ensure that Sebastian receives all the care he needs. This job will suit someone who is calm but very proactive and able to bring lots of enthusiasm to the role,

Main Skills and Behaviours
You should have experience of working with someone who has cerebral palsy and be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.

Naturally, you will be confident and comfortable working in Sebastian’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family.  By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have encouraging approach.

Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Sebastian will rely on so this is key in supporting him.
