About The Role

Location: Fareham, Portsmouth
Days & Hours: Part time role - 
3 weekend day shifts over a month of either 7.30am-1.30pm or 1.30pm-7.30pm, hours may vary due to requirements.  School run shifts to and from Alton (2 staff required) 7.45am-10.00am and/or 3.15pm -5.30pm, 3-4 drives per week (this will be in Daphne's adapted car).   Bank hours, day and night to help provide cover outside of school hours in term time, during the holidays and to help with absences of the current team.

£10.09 per hour, Monday to Friday, Days
£11.20 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays, Days
£13.94 per hour, Monday to Thursday, Waking Nights, 10pm to 7am
£National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage (dependent on candidate's age) per hour, Monday to Thursday, Sleeping Nights, 11pm to 7am
£16.02 per hour, Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays, Waking Nights, 10pm to 7am
£National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage (dependent on candidate's age) per hour + £1, Friday to Sunday and Bank Holidays, Sleeping Nights, 11pm to 7am 
Driver required? Essential (will need own car to get to work)
Driving Client's Car? Yes, our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, On duty and to attend training
Essential Experience: Experience working with teenagers with cerebral palsy and seizures
Desirable: Supporting with independence, holds a childcare qualification
Pets: 1 dog
Accommodation (while on duty): Use of a room for care staff
Interviews Week Commencing: As and when applications are received, these are likely to be held via video call

Our welcoming team are seeking a friendly, bubbly and chatty Support Worker who strives to deliver a high standard of care.  We are looking for someone to provide support for a kind, funny and amazingly awesome teenager living with her family based in Fareham.  As a team we help to ensure she is safe, having lots of fun and giggles and encourage her independence as much as possible.

This role requires a person who is happy to provide personal care, use moving and handling equipment and assist with mealtimes and medication administration. They will be required to provide emergency seizure care for her epilepsy, if needed (after training) and daily physiotherapy stretches due to her Cerebral Palsy.  Full training will be provided for successful applicants.

The Female Carer/Support Worker will provide assistance to Daphne's parents with the care of their daughter and support them with everyday family life.  She requires help with all activities of daily living and will also require help to enable her to access leisure, social and learning activities.  She greatly enjoys baking, art and crafts, fresh air and walks, music and watching films.

The Driver can be male or female and drive Daphne to and from school during term time.  If the applicant for the driving post is female they may be able to pick up extra hours as a Support Worker if desired.

Pay and Benefits:
£NMW/NLW - £16.02 per hour for variable shifts as listed above
On-going training & support provided
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • *Female Support Worker due to personal care tasks (Driver does not need to be Female as no personal care tasks)
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Daphne's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Daphne's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
  • Can develop productive and professional relationships with others
  • Actively creates an inclusive environment respecting diversity
  • Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements
  • Friendly, approachable with a proactive and encouraging approach 
  • A Qualified First Aider (training can be provided)
  • Qualified in Epilepsy Seizure Management (training can be provided)
  • Qualified in Childcare or working towards a qualification
  • Punctual, patient, reliable and trustworthy
  • Can maintain an excellent level of confidentiality
  • Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate
  • Able to think creatively and to use initiative
  • Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice
  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) and able to drive the client's adapted vehicle  
  • Comfortable to be around animals (Daphne has a pet dog)
