Introducing Sam
Sam is a young man born in 1992, who is very keen to open up his social network by trying new activities and accessing the community. Sam requires a Support Worker/Buddy to enable him to access social and leisure pursuits outside of the home independently of his family. Sam has an interest in motor sports, cricket, film and music and having similar interests to him would be beneficial. Activities typically might include shopping, cinema, bowling, as well as sports based activities and occasional longer day trips.

Sam suffered a spinal injury in his mid teens following surgery to correct a spinal deformity. This injury resulted in reduced functional use of the lower half of his body.  He uses a wheelchair for mobility and is independent in personal care and requires some support with car transfers to lift his lightweight wheelchair in and out of the vehicle.

Sam can lack confidence, so requires a confident, supportive and responsible person to support him to increase his independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a team and develop existing skills. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.
