Location: Woodley, Berkshire
Days & Hours: 18.75 hrs a week and 27.50 hrs if Denise trains:
Friday: 7am – 6:45pm (11.75 hours)
Saturday: 8am – 11:30am (3.5 hours)
Sunday: 8am to 11:30 (3.5 hours)
Every other Sunday there will be additional hours 5pm-1.45am (8.75 hours) once Denise continues with her training.
This role will be on a fixed term basis for 6 months with the possibility of extension or to become permanent. Also bank hours to cover for the current support worker in their absence.
Pay: £15.50 per hour Weekdays and £16.50 per hour Weekends.
Driver required? Essential (will need own car to get to work)
Driving Clients Car? Yes, Denise's wheelchair adapted vehicle.
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, on duty and to attend trainings
Essential Experience: Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy
Desirable: Experience in managing Spinal injury, pain and fatigue
Pets: 2 dogs
Accommodation (while on duty): Partially adapted family home

Denise, born in 1988 considers family to be very important to her. She has a keen interest in sport and exercise and is a member of the GB Paralympics ice hockey team for which she has regular training and matches.
Denise was injured during a rugby match in October 2017. As a result of the accident and sustained severe injuries including a T10, spinal cord injury which has been classified as ASIA B, paraplegia. She also has a diagnosis of complex regional pain syndrome and suffers fatigue. Denise is independently mobile in her manual wheelchair and all basic wheelchair skills and a majority of advanced skills, she is independent with all transfers.
Your role will be to support Denise with day-to-day activities as needed. At times, this may include supporting with elements of personal care. This will also include supporting Denise with domestic tasks for her, as well as the family, assisting with the children's meals when needed, helping to build her confidence with being a mum and supporting her with childcare as required, she has 3 children, 2 in secondary school and 1 in nursery. Your role will also include driving and supporting Denise at her Ice Hockey training and assisting with any therapy based activities.
