About The Role

Location: Reading RG30
Days & Hours:
5 hrs per week, 2.5 hours over 2 days, this will be arranged with the family in advance.  Typical shift would be 3.00pm-5.30pm as there may be a need to collect Jamie from school.  There is a possibility the hours could increase once a good working relationship has been established.

£15.50 per hour Weekdays and £16.70 per hour Weekends

Yes, On duty and to attend trainings.  Business insurance required and a mileage will be paid.
Essential Experience:
Working with a young people with brain injury (although training will be available)
Desirable:
An interest in therapy and had involvement with multi-disciplinary teams
Pets:
1 dog.  There is a snake within the family home and is well contained.

We are seeking a fun, patient, and caring support worker for Jamie, born in 2015, he lives at home with his family.  Jamie is a Lego enthusiast, and enjoys gaming like Minecraft and Roblox, he really loves to draw, so anything gaming and animation is his absolute favourite.  He would love to go to Legoland.

Jamie suffered a brain injury at birth, he is independently mobile and would like help for the family in supporting his everyday needs.

Your role will be to support Jamie and his family with everyday tasks of supporting a young boy with additional needs.  To collect Jamie from school, checking his school diary and communicate anything that needs to be actioned.  Therapeutic input such as physio, occupational and speech and language therapy that is completed by the professionals to be carried on by the support worker at home and to attend quarterly meetings with the multi-disciplinary team.  There could be times you may have to attend hospital appointments with the parents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special little boy. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:
  • £15.50 per hour Weekdays and £16.70 per hour Weekends 
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
