Hi, I’m Tristan!

I was born in 2000 and live with complex physical, psychological, and communication needs due to an injury at birth. But that’s just one part of my story—I’m fun-loving, sociable, and I love getting outdoors, shopping, attending day services, and having a good laugh with my support team. Keeping things upbeat and engaging is really important to me.

I’m looking for Support Workers to join my care team—people who are calm, proactive, and bring a sense of structure and fun to my day. You’ll be helping me live life to the fullest, supporting me with daily activities, personal care, mobility, and social outings. I use a wheelchair and am gastrostomy fed, so confidence in these areas is essential.

Hours & Pay

  • Approx. 116 hours per 4-week cycle (avg. 29 hours/week)
  • Flexible shifts – can be shared by more than one person
  • Bank hours available

Pay Rates:

  • Pay Rate 1: £13.23 per hour, Monday to Friday days and Waking nights
  • Pay Rate 2: £15.44 per hour, Weekend days
  • Pay Rate 3: £17.64 per hour, Bank Holidays
  • £NLW (Currently £12.21 p/h for age 21+),  Weekday Sleeping Nights (11pm–7am)
  • £NLW (Currently £12.21 p/h for age 21+) + £1, £13.21/hr – Weekend Sleeping Nights (11pm–7am)
  • £31.20 per shift – On Standby

Driving & Travel

  • You’ll need your own car to get to work (rural location)
  • You’ll also be driving my adapted automatic vehicle
  • Use of your own vehicle may be needed for training

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children/young adults with neuro disabilities

Desirable:

  • Qualifications or experience with severe disabilities

  • I live in a fully adapted family home with a separate carer’s entrance, room, and kitchen
  • We have a very friendly family dog (who does bark!)
  • Interviews will be held as applications are received (via Microsoft Teams)
  • Start Date: ASAP (subject to pre-employment checks)

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

Essential
  • Experience/understanding of working with young people with neuro disability preferred.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate and the ability to keep adequate written records of care given.
  • Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements
  • Actively creates an inclusive environment respecting diversity.
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Tristan’s needs.
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Understanding of the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team.
  • Confident and comfortable working in Tristan’s own home and sensitive to his needs and wishes and those of his family.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of maintaining an excellent level of confidentiality and to respect Tristan and his family's need for privacy.
  • Happy to learn new things in accordance with the Tristan’s programme– Training will be given.
  • Aptitude and desire to work with young people with complex needs.
  • Able to think creatively and to use initiative
  • Patient and tolerant.
  • Friendly, approachable with a proactive and encouraging approach.
  • Water confident to assist with hydrotherapy.

  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) and able to drive your own car for work purposes and also the Tristan's adapted vehicle.

Desirable

  • Experience of and qualifications in caring for young people with severe disabilities.
  • Experience of carrying out therapy programmes.
  • Ability to work additional hours as required.
  • Able to work flexible hours, sometimes at short notice.
  • Previous experience of using specialist equipment along with IT equipment with disabled people.
  • Basic knowledge of therapies, such as hydrotherapy.
  • Previous experience of hoisting and use of specialist equipment with disabled people.
  • Experience of carrying out physiotherapy and/or multi-sensory programmes.

ILS Case Management is the UK's leading independent nationwide Case Management company.

When a person’s life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.  We are CQC registered and compliant with their standards.

Our Case Managers work closely with our Clients, and we carry out all the recruitment processes on behalf of our Clients; and will support you, from your initial telephone interview right through to arranging employer interviews, trial shifts and placement.

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
