Support Worker

Location:
Weymouth
Position:
Carer/Support Worker/Client Recruitment
Remuneration:
As below

About The Role

Hi, I’m Dom – and I’m looking for a new Support Worker to join my team in Weymouth!

I was born in 1977 and live with Cerebral Palsy, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying life. I’ve got a great sense of humour (if I do say so myself), I’m easy-going, and I love spending time with my family. I enjoy darts and snooker, working on my computer, and having my own space at home. I also volunteer at a local charity shop, which I really enjoy.

I’m looking for someone who can support me both at home and out in the community. You’ll be helping me with personal care, therapy exercises, and making sure I stay safe when we’re out and about. I use a powered wheelchair and have some limited movement, so I need someone who’s calm, proactive, and ready to get stuck in – especially if you like swimming, because that’s one of my favourite ways to stay active! You will need to like swimming and be able to drive my Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.

The Role

  • Location: Weymouth
  • Hours: Average of Approximately 30 hours a week based on a 4-week rolling rota
  • Pay:
    • Weekdays: £15.00 per hour
    • Weekends: £16.00 per hour
    • Sleeping Nights: National Living Wage currently £12.21 per hour
  • Driver? Yes, please – you’ll need to drive my wheelchair-adapted vehicle (automatic) and sometimes use your own car for training or work purposes.
  • Accommodation while on duty: You’ll have your own bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

About You

I’d like to work with someone who:

  • Has experience supporting adults with CP (essential)
  • Is interested in therapy or has experience working with adults (desirable)
  • Is patient, understanding, and can communicate well
  • Brings warmth, compassion, and a positive attitude to the role
  • Will support me to eat healthily and look after myself.

What You’ll Get

  • Ongoing training and support (including The Care Certificate)
  • 5.6 weeks pro rata annual leave
  • Pension (subject to qualifying status)
  • Free DBS check
  • Induction and regular supervision
  • Support from my Team Leader, Case Manager and HR team

You’d Be Perfect for This Role If You:

Are Supportive

  • Are kind, patient, and full of energy
  • Work well with families and professionals to provide consistent, compassionate care
  • Are happy to be part of a close-knit team that truly cares

Have Integrity

  • Are honest, reliable, and professional in everything you do
  • Communicate openly and respectfully with my family and support team
  • Always do the right thing

Are Client Centred

  • Put me at the heart of your work and respect my choices
  • Adapt your support to suit my needs, interests, and pace
  • Help me grow in confidence and independence

Are Quality Focussed

  • Take pride in delivering high standards of care
  • Follow therapy programmes carefully and are open to learning
  • Are observant, detail-oriented, and committed to doing your best

Are Positive

  • Bring a can-do attitude and a sense of fun
  • Focus on what I can do and help me find solutions
  • Celebrate progress and help me live life to the fullest

Interviews & Start Date

  • Interviews will be held via video call as applications come in
  • Start date: ASAP (subject to pre-employment checks)

If you think you’d be a good fit and want to make a real difference in someone’s life, I’d welcome your application. Come and be part of a team that helps me live life to the fullest.

Thanks for reading – hope to meet you soon!
— Dom
