About The Role

Location: Twickenham TW2
Days & Hours: 
3-4 hours per day Monday-Friday.  Saturdays on an ad-hoc basis based on Giorgio’s educational requirements.

Introducing Giorgio
Giorgio is a delightful young man born in 2007 who lives with his family.  He loves going out and taking photos especially of planes taking off and landing along with all other aspects of aviation.  He has an adapted bike he likes to cycle in the local parks and is keen to visit more places to cycle. 

Giorgio has Cerebral Palsy and is mobile but requires support when he is out and about as can become unstable at times. At times it can be difficult to understand Giorgio's speech but over time working with Giorgio it will become easier to understand. However, you will be supported by the Speech and Language therapist, along with the Occupational therapist and Physio.

We’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support Giorgio in accessing and enjoy a variety of exciting learning experiences.  These include Parkour, aviation, science and Italian GCSE, photography, engineering, music production, and cookery.

Your role will be to provide warm, high-quality educational and personal support within the home and education settings.  You’ll help Giorgio engage with his learning, support him during lessons whilst encouraging his independence and well-being.

At the end of each session, you’ll reflect with Giorgio on what he’s learned, helping to identify anything that might need revisiting and sharing this with his tutor.  You’ll also keep an eye on his energy levels, suggesting breaks when needed to help him stay comfortable and focused.

Some light personal care may be part of the role, depending on Giorgio’s needs. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special young man.  A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:

  • £20.00 an hour

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • Male due to providing personal care
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident about working in the educational environment and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the setting.
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Giorgio's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
