Hi, I’m Dean — and I’m Looking for a Buddy/Support Worker!

Hey there! I’m Dean, born in 1999, and I’m looking for someone friendly, reliable, and supportive to join me on my journey to becoming more independent. I’ve got loads of interests and hobbies, and I’d love to find someone who’s up for sharing some of them with me — or just being a great companion.

A Bit About Me:

  • I’m passionate about woodwork — I love getting stuck into creative projects.
  • I enjoy stunt scootering and hanging out at the local skate park.
  • I’m a big fan of live music, especially drum and bass, and I love going to events to see my favourite DJs.
  • I love being outdoors, walking in nature, relaxing on the beach, and swimming in the sea when I’m on holiday.
  • I have a close relationship with my mum — she’s a big part of my life.

I sustained a hypoxic brain injury at birth and I’ve been hearing impaired all my life. I wear hearing aids and lip read well. I’m looking for someone who can support me with daily living tasks, help me explore new activities, and encourage me to keep doing the things I love — like skateboarding, surfing, swimming, and of course, woodwork.

What I’m Looking For:

I’d enjoy working with someone who shares the values that matter to me and my support team:

  • Client Focussed – Can you show real commitment and passion for helping me live my best life?
  • Integrity – Are you empathetic and able to understand me in a professional and respectful way?
  • Supportive – Can you build a positive and professional relationship with me and those around me?
  • Positive – Will you help create an inclusive environment where I feel respected and valued?
  • Quality Focussed – Are you someone who always acts with professionalism and care?

Experience:

  • Essential: Supporting young adults to achieve their potential and become more independent.
  • Desirable: Experience working with young adults with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Training & Benefits:

  • On-going training & support provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
  • Pension (subject to qualifying status)
  • Free DBS check
  • Induction & relevant training (including The Care Certificate)
  • Regular supervision and support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR team

Interviews & Start Date:

  • Interviews: Rolling basis, face-to-face. This advert will close once we’ve received enough applications — so please apply soon!
  • Start Date: ASAP (subject to employment checks)

Please note:
With regret, our clients do not offer sponsorship. You must have the right to work in the UK.

This role will require:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Satisfactory references, including your last employer
  • An enhanced DBS Certificate (a conviction won’t necessarily prevent you from being employed)

Thanks for reading — I hope to meet you soon!

About You
