Introducing our client

We are seeking a friendly, proactive Support Worker who genuinely enjoys spending time outdoors—in all weathers—and is enthusiastic about helping others stay active and connected to the hobbies they love.

Our client is an independent individual who is visually impaired and keen to continue enjoying his two favourite leisure activities: golf and fishing. He lives at home with his wife and his guide dog, and he works five mornings a week. His days off, Wednesday and Thursday, are dedicated to getting out into the fresh air and doing the activities he enjoys most.

Recently, he shared his personal philosophy:
“I am here for a good time, not a long time. Life is for living.”
This outlook shapes his approach to each day and highlights the positivity and energy he brings to life.

Our client has been severely sight impaired since March 2021. He walks with the support of his guide dog or a cane when outdoors or navigating unfamiliar indoor spaces.

About the Role

As his Support Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring he can continue to enjoy his leisure activities safely and regularly. Your support will include:

  • Accompanying him to golf courses (being his caddy due to his visual impairment, and sometimes having a round), fishing spots (to drive him there and back and support set up) and other local leisure venues as directed by the client.
  • Providing practical, hands-on assistance to help him participate fully
  • Driving him to appointments, activities, and outings.
  • Offering friendly, reliable companionship that makes each trip enjoyable.

This is an ideal role for someone who:

  • Loves being outdoors
  • Is patient, supportive, and empathetic
  • Enjoys helping others maintain independence and quality of life
  • Is confident driving and happy to travel locally

If you’re someone who believes in making the most out of life—and helping others do the same—this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Pay and Benefits:
  • £16.00 per hour, Monday to Friday, £17.00 per hour, Weekends and Bank Holidays
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
  • Pension (subject to qualifying status)
