Location: Denmead, Hampshire

Hours:  As well as the Deputy Team Leader we are always looking for bank support workers, there are also additional hours available in the school holidays.

Deputy Team Leader - Based on a 2-week rolling rota. Plus on call.
Week 1 – 23 hours
Waking night. 8pm-8am 12 hours
Wednesday 4pm-9pm 5 hours
Sunday 2pm-8pm

Week 2 – 29.5 hours
Wednesday 3:30pm-9pm 5.5 hours
Saturday 8am-8pm 12 hours
Sunday 8am-8pm 12 hours

Pay: 

Deputy Team Leader: £17.00 per hour, Monday to Sunday Days, Bank Holidays Paid at 1.5x Day Rate, £15.00 On Call per 24 hours (7am to 7am) Sleeping nights paid at £NLW (Currently £12.71 per hour for age 21+)
 
Bank Support Workers: £16.10 per hour, Monday to Sunday Days, Bank Holidays Paid at 1.5x Day Rate, Sleeping nights paid at £NLW (Currently £12.71 per hour for age 21+)

Job Summary I was born in 2009 and live at home with my mum, dad, and big brother. I love swimming, hydrotherapy, and being around people.  I’m very sociable! I have Cerebral Palsy and use a wheelchair. I don’t speak with words, but I use a communication folder and non-verbal cues to let you know what I need and how I feel. I’m PEG fed and supported 24/7 by a brilliant team of carers.

Shared Person Specification (Support Worker & Deputy Team Leader) - It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

Essential

    • Female (genuine occupational requirement due to personal care needs).
    • Confident working within the client's family home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client and their family.
    • Willingness to learn new skills, including hoisting, feeding, personal care routines, therapy programmes and the use of specialist equipment (full training provided).
    • Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing and pulling where required. A Handling Management Plan is in place to minimise risk.
    • Aptitude and desire to work with children with complex needs.
    • Flexible, adaptable and able to use own initiative.
    • Patient, understanding and tolerant.

Desirable

    • Experience of supporting children or adults with complex disabilities or additional needs.
    • Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care or supporting children and young people with disabilities.
    • Experience of carrying out therapy or rehabilitation programmes.
    • Previous experience using hoists and specialist equipment.
    • Experience of using assistive technology, communication aids, switches or specialist IT equipment.
    • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
    • Ability to work additional hours and provide occasional short-notice cover.
    • Full clean driving licence and willingness to drive the client's adapted vehicle.

Additional Essential Requirements for Deputy Team Leader Only

In addition to the above:

    • Experience of leading, supervising or coordinating a team.
    • Experience of developing, implementing and reviewing person-centred care plans.
    • Experience of managing staff rotas.
    • Experience of managing timesheets and staff records.
    • Ability to support, mentor and guide support workers.
    • Ability to liaise effectively with parents, therapists, case managers and other professionals.
    • Ability to identify, escalate and appropriately manage concerns.
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
    • Confident using IT systems for rota management, communication and record keeping.
