About The Role

Our Client requires Support Workers to assist her (and her parents) with all aspects of her care and to support the family with everyday life. Our Client is a bright young lady born in 2001, who has cerebral palsy affecting her whole body and causing her to have communication difficulties. She lives at home with her parents, two younger brothers and a Labrador dog. She attends a local special needs school and after school activities such as hydrotherapy, massage and Scouts. She is a very social young lady enjoying the company of friends and family.

Role Overview:

Our client requires help with all aspects of daily living and help to enable her to access the home and community environment.  The Support Worker’s role is to promote her wellbeing and independence under the guidance of our client’s parents and involved professionals. The Support Workers will be expected to follow advice and recommendations from parents and specialists i.e. on positioning, feeding, exercises, etc.

Ad hoc and variable hours to meet the needs of the Client which will include cover for, Annual Leave, Sickness and any other leave of the team. 

Remuneration:

£12.00 per hour Monday – Friday, Days

£14.00 per hour Weekend, Days.

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

  • Relevant training opportunities (including The Care Certificate),
  • Regular clinical supervision/review meetings,
  • On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.

 

 

 

About You

Support Worker Attributes:

  • *Female, for personal care.
  • *Physically fit, for moving & handling purposes.
  • Confident working in a family home and sensitive to the needs & wishes of the client and her family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality & privacy, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Flexible, encouraging and proactive attitude to work.
  • Happy to learn new things – feeding techniques, personal care routine etc. Training will be given as appropriate and will be agreed with the family and Case Manager.
  • Keen to assist this young lady to develop as she transitions into adulthood.
  • Willing to carry through therapeutic activities on a daily basis.  Training will be given as required.
  • Open to accompanying the family on days out in school holidays or at weekends and possibly on holidays.  Arrangements will be agreed by the family and the Support Worker.
  • Water confident.
  • Happy to work in an environment with dogs.
  • Full driving licence endorsements to be disclosed.
  • Non-Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment.

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
