About The Role

Location: Bristol
Days & Hours: A minimum of 5 hours per week during the day on a Thursday or Saturday in accordance with the rota. There will also be the opportunity to work additional hours on a Sunday during the day, and some evenings during the week.

Pay:  £11 per hour, Monday - Sunday

Driver required? Essential a valid full UK driving licence

Driving Clients Car? Yes

Essential: Supporting adults with complex emotional, behavioural needs. Confident with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques. 

Desirable: Experience working with adults with an acquired brain Injury, trauma and an interest in therapy.  

Family Pets: Dog Friendly

Simon aged 57 sustained a brain injury in 2013, which has left him with noticeable cognitive difficulties. He lives alone in his own home. Simon enjoys walking and cycling locally and tries to do this regularly. Simon supports Bristol City Football Club, and loves to watch them play.  One of Simons goal's this year is to attend a match with his son. Simon also enjoys eating out, and weekly trips to a local day centre.  

You will be joining a small care team where you will be taking direction from the Team Leader and Case Manager to ensure that Simon receives all the care he needs. 

Simon requires a Support Worker to assist him with participating in day to day activities in addition to supporting him to engage in community leisure activities. He has a kind nature and an outgoing personality. He needs a patient, directive approach to aid his participation in activities. He has some difficulty initiating and understanding some tasks and keeping concentration.

Pay and Benefits:

£11 per hour, Monday to Sunday.

On-going training & support provided

5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

Free DBS check.

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours: 

  • *Male
  • Experience of working with an Acquired Brain Injury.
  • Experience in a support/enabling role in a community setting opposed to solely care work.
  • A full clean driving licence is essential in order to transport our client and knowledge of the local area is preferable. 
  • Confident about working in the home environment and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client.
  • The ability to learn new skills.  
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team.
  • Can develop productive and professional relationships with others.
  • Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements.
  • Friendly, approachable with a proactive and encouraging approach to developing a range of appropriate activities.
  • Punctual, patient, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Can maintain an excellent level of confidentiality.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate.
  • Able to think creatively and to use initiative.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice.
  • Basic understanding of the principles of rehabilitation.
  • Good sense of humour.

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

When a persons life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.

ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
