Support Worker / Carer - After School

About The Role

Location: Farnham, Surrey

Days & Hours: 5 after school shifts per week covering Monday to Friday of 4 hours per shift (3.00pm - 7.00pm). Total of 20 hrs per week. These shifts can be covered by 1 or more support workers.

Pay: £10.50 per hour with potential to rise to £11.50 per hour after successful completion of probation.
Driver required? No
Desirable: Experience working with children with additional needs and an interest in therapy
Accommodation (while on duty): Wheelchair accessible family home with a separate room for care staff.

Start Date: End of Aug/Beg of Sept (subject to satisfactory employment checks)

 

Sam is a lovely cheerful boy, born in 2012 who has cerebral palsy resulting in complex needs, he is very bright and can communicate verbally.  Sam enjoys reading, watching films, playing table top games and playing on his iPad.

 

Sam is looking for flexible Support Workers to help his Mum get ready for when he and his sister come home from school. You need to be happy to 'muck in' and help his Mum with Sam's needs, or if he is tired and wants quiet time with Mum, doing crafts and playing with his sister as she might be full of beans! In due course the role may also include providing one to one support for Sam if he wants to do any after school activities.  

This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated carers to join Sam's care team and support this very special little boy. A truly rewarding role.

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • Physically fit for moving and handling purposes
  • Experience with working with Acquired Brain Injury
  • Confident and comfortable working in Sam’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Sam's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
  • Can develop productive and professional relationships with others

    Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

    ILS provide Case Management and Rehabilitation Services on a nationwide scale.
     
    When a persons life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.
     
    ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
