About The Role

Location: Stockbridge, Hampshire
Days & Hours: Bank hours to cover shifts over weekdays, evenings and weekends, to be worked flexibly in accordance with the rota and our client’s needs.  Typical shifts are 12 or 24 hours, however 12 hours is the minimum that can be worked.  Shifts cover 7.30am - 7.30pm days and 7.30pm - 7.30am nights.

Pay: £11.00 per hour / Weekdays and evenings / Weekends: £13.00 per hour – dependant on experience

Driver required? Essential
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes? Yes, occasionally whilst on duty and to attend training, would require business insurance. 

Essential: Supporting adults with complex emotional, behavioural and attachment needs. Confident with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques. 
Desirable: Experience working with adults with epilepsy and an interest in therapy

Family Pets: None but dogs may visit from time to time

Accommodation (while on duty): Good sized double bedroom with en-suite. Additional use of an adult sitting room which is used rarely by the family.

Our client lives in his own home and his Mum, Dad and girlfriend, who are all important people in his life, visit regularly. He enjoys his cars and loves participating in outdoor activities including shooting.  He also really enjoys his freedom, travelling and visiting new places and being normal - just like anyone his age!   He loves his volunteer role on the farm.

 

Our client is a loyal, humorous and fun loving young man in his 20s.  He is unable to smell, so is happy for people to let him know of smells that could be of concern or humour!

 
Following a brain injury, he is at risk of seizures at night time or when he is asleep. He wears a seizure monitor watch but may need urgent help in terms of medication administration.  Our client also requires assistance in carrying out his rehabilitation programs and with motivation to participate in his social, voluntary work and leisure activities. 

 

You will need to be able to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness along with problem solving skills as you will be expected to assist him in all aspects of daily living and everyday tasks to enable him to pursue a fulfilling and structured lifestyle.  You will be required to support him with his social and leisure interests e.g. going to the pub, attending the local shoot, along with his vocational interests; working on a farm in his volunteering role which include tasks such as riding on the tractor and general farm duties. 

 

Pay and Benefits:

£11-13 per hour, Monday to Sunday.

On-going training & support provided

5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

Sick leave entitlement

Free DBS check.

About You

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
