Carolyn is a lovely happy young girl, born in 2012, who lives at home with her parents, she loves music and sensory stimulation in terms of physical interaction and will respond in quite a ‘chatty’ way, vocalising a range of sounds and when people talk to her she will respond with smiles and facial expressions.

Carolyn is most alert in the afternoon, this is when the family may enjoy a trip to the park, have lunch at a local restaurant or a trip to the seaside as Carolyn also enjoys these activities.

Carolyn receives nutrition, water and medication via a PEG, has limited upper limb function and not able to weight bear through her legs.  She can have a disturbed sleep pattern and rarely sleeps right through the night.  Carolyn attends a special needs school.

Carolyn has profound and multiple physical and learning difficulties arising from brain injuries at the time of her birth; she requires complete assistance and guidance with all aspects of her daily living, learning and personal care tasks.  You will provide safe effective care to Carolyn during the night and early morning to provide her parents with reassurance that their child is receiving a high quality of care. You will need to be competent and experienced in the management of epilepsy and alert throughout the night and able to administer medication as and when needed and recognise the need for further assistance.

On occasion there may be times when Carolyn's parents have to be away from the family home and at this time you will be left in sole charge of her, and expected to implement care as advised by Carolyn’s team of therapists and record information relating to this as advised.
