About The Role

Location: Swindon

Role Available: Support Worker / Buddy, 4 hours once a week (day to be agreed) with the opportunity to increase up to 8-12 hours per week during school holidays.
Pay: £10.50 per hour Monday to Sunday

Driver Required: Essential, due to home being in a rural location
Essential Experience: Confident about working in Connor's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family. Aptitude and desire to work with children/young adults with disabilities.

Desirable: Experience of and qualifications in caring for children with disabilities.

Pets: You will need to work alongside an assistance dog and the family have pet dogs in the home
Accommodation (while on duty): Fully adapted family home

Interview Date: As and when applications are received, interviews will be completed via video call.

Start Date: ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks)

 

 

We are seeking a patient, caring and vigilant Support Worker / Buddy to support our client, Connor, aged 12.

 

Connor was born with Cerebral Palsy and Autism, however, he is fully independent in getting around and independent with his personal care. When Connor is out and about he requires constant, sensitive supervision, due to his severe visual impairment and being unsteady when walking and running.  He is extremely close to his Mother, Grandparents and Aunty. Connor loves animals especially the family dogs and has his own assistance dog who travels with him to places where he may become anxious.

 

Your role will be to assist Connor to access leisure activities at home and in the local community.  He particularly enjoys going out for a drive. You will be expected to respond sensitively and appropriately to his needs and emotions and work cooperatively with his Mother and the Case Manager.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join the team and develop existing skills and to support this delightful boy. A truly rewarding role with the opportunity for increased shifts over the holidays.

 
Pay and Benefits:
£10.50 per hour Monday - Sunday
On-going training & support provided
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

  • Non-smoker - this post operates a non-smoking environment.

  • Comfortable with dogs.

 
Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
