£12.00 per hour Weekdays and £14.00 gross per hour Weekends, if you are required to cover at weekend
About The Role
Location: Whiteley, Hampshire
Days & Hours:
32-36 hours per week. Typical shifts will be 6.30am – 9.00am and 3pm – 7/7.30pm Monday – Friday to assist before and after school hours.  There may be additional hours during weekends and the shifts above may vary depending on need.

Pay: Weekdays £12.00 per hour Weekdays and £14.00 gross per hour Weekends, if you are required to cover at weekends

Driver required? Essential
Driving Clients Car? Yes, our clients Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes?
Yes, to attend trainings

Essential Experience:
Experience working with Cerebral Palsy

Desirable: Experience working with children with complex needs and an interest in therapy

Jenna, aged 7 is a lively bright girl who likes to be very active.  She has a good sense of humour and really enjoys after school clubs like ballet, swimming, and drama.


Jenna is limited by her physical disability and is able to communicate though with some restrictions, she drives a powered wheelchair at school and uses a manual wheelchair at home and when out and about, she is semi-dependent in areas of self-care and requires assistance to undertake all activities.


Your role will be to help Jenna in all aspects of her daily living including personal care and to make sure she is ready to attend school during term times, along with driving her to and from school and activities.  Working closely with her therapists, you will lead and participate in therapy sessions and continue these sessions within the family home.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special little girl. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.  

Pay and Benefits:

£12.00 per hour Weekdays and £14.00 per hour Weekends. Hours may vary as Dad works shifts and so more support is required when he is at work.

On-going training & support provided

5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

Free DBS check.


In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • *Female due to providing personal care
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Jenna’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Jenna's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
  • Can develop productive and professional relationships with others
  • Actively creates an inclusive environment respecting diversity
  • Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements
  • Friendly, approachable with a proactive and encouraging approach
  • Water confident to assist with hydrotherapy/ swimming
  • Punctual, patient, reliable and trustworthy
  • Can maintain an excellent level of confidentiality
  • Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate
  • Able to think creatively and to use initiative
  • Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice
  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)


  • Training in or an experience of working with children with complex needs

  • Experience of power wheelchairs.

  • Qualifications in childcare. 

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

When a persons life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.
ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
