Support Worker (*Female) - 3 posts; 1x Part-Time and 2x Bank

£10.29 - £11.83 per hour dependant on shift pattern.
About The Role

Location: Bursledon, Southampton
Days & Hours:
Part Time hours equivalent to 25 hours per week to be worked in accordance with the rota for the needs of the client. The shifts are regulated around a 4 week rota system. The client requires 24/7 support and you will be required to work day and overnight shifts and 3 weekends per month. Day shifts are 8am-6pm and night shifts are 6pm-8am. The nights are sleeping nights from 11pm-8am, with the remainder of the hours paid at the day rates. 

Currently the available shifts are 10 x 10-hour day shifts. They cover weekdays and weekends. These are subject to change on the rota. There will be additional hours available to cover sickness and annual leave.  
We are also looking to recruit Bank Support Workers to cover for sickness and leave of regular staff members. 

Pay Rate 1:
£10.29 per hour, Monday-Thursday 8.00am-11.00pm, Friday 8.00am-8.00pm (plus waking night, if disturbed)
Pay Rate 2:
£11.83 per hour, Friday 8.00pm-11.00pm, Saturday, Sunday, Bank holidays 8.00am-11.00pm (plus waking nights, if disturbed)
Pay Rate 3:
£NLW (currently £8.72 for age 25+) for sleeping nights Monday–Thursday 11.00pm–8.00am
Pay Rate 4:
£NLW =£1, for sleeping nights, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank holiday 11.00pm – 8.00am

Driver required?
Driving Clients Car?
No. You will need your own car, insured for business purposes to transport Rosie
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes?
Yes, On duty and to attend training and Team Meetings 
Supporting adults with epilepsy, learning difficulties and ABI.
Experience motivating young adults with learning difficulties or ABI.
Family Pets:
2 guinea pigs. You will be required to assist with their management.
Accommodation (while on duty):
Good sized double bedroom with separate bathroom.

Rosie, born in 1990, has a good sense of humour and is lovely to be around.  Her mum is very important to her, along with animals and coffee!  She has a great support team around her of people she likes.  Rosie generally gets on well with most people. She needs help to motivate herself to do some activities.

Rosie likes to be treated like an adult and has a weekly planner to help her keep up with what she has to do, she enjoys clothes shopping (but not food shopping) and going out for coffee.  She likes her guinea pigs and responds well to being given one instruction at any one time.

Resulting from a head injury, Rosie has epilepsy, learning difficulties and a visual impairment.  She requires one to one care for all of her personal, domestic and social needs, in addition to supervision for her epilepsy.

About You

It would be great to receive your application if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • *Female due to providing personal care
  • Experience with working with Acquired Brain Injury and Epilepsy
  • Experience of working 1:1 with clients independently
  • Flexibility around shift times and ability to cover for other staff members sickness and leave.
  • Confident and comfortable working in Rosie’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Rosie's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team
  • Can develop productive and professional relationships with others

  • Good organisational skills who can adhere to standards and quality requirements

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

When a persons life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.
ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
