About The Role

Location: Ashford, Kent

Days & Hours:
5 hours on a Saturday with additional hours in the school holidays and to cover absences
Pay:
£14.00 per hour Monday to Sunday. 
Driver required?
Essential but non drivers could be considered.
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes?
Yes, on duty and to attend training.  Must have business insurance.
Essential Experience: 
Experience/understanding of needs related to autism, learning difficulties, ADHD, speech and language delay and hearing difficulties.
Desirable:
Experience of working with children with special needs (This is preferred but enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn is essential).
Pets: 
1 dog

We are seeking a patient, caring and alert carer to support our client, a lovely 13 year old boy who has complex needs.  He is independently mobile with Autism, learning difficulties, ADHD speech and language delay.  He lives in his family home in Ashford with his parents and their dog. 

Your role will be to support our client to access and participate in educational, therapeutic and leisure activities, both inside and outside of the home.  You will be required to accompany him during activities and support him to participate to his optimum.  This may require you to provide physical assistance, verbal prompting and use strategies to manage behaviour.
 
He enjoys trips out in the car, trains, swimming, music and computer games. He likes for adults to interact with him and include him in activities.  This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join his current home care team.  You will develop existing skills and apply specific skills to enable you to support him.  There is the opportunity of increased hours during the school holidays and when cover is required for other carers.

Pay and Benefits:
£14.00 per hour Monday to Sunday
On-going training & support provided
Free DBS check.

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

About You

  • Willing to work with a dog present in the family home.

Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

When a persons life has been changed by injury, we address the practicalities.  We work with children and adults who have had moderate or catastrophic, complex injuries.  We assess individual needs and are able to provide a comprehensive Case Management and Rehabilitation Service designed to maximise independence.
 
ILS recruit on behalf of their clients and therefore, if you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
