Carer/Support Worker/Client Recruitment
£9 - £11 per hour dependant on experience and shift worked.
About The Role
Location: Burnley 
16 hours per week for the part time role and bank hours available as and when required according to Larry's needs.  Hours will include early mornings, afternoons during the week, together with weekend days and sleeping nights.  Longer shifts will be worked during school holidays.

£9.00 per hour Weekdays and £11.00 per hour Weekends. £NLW per hour for sleeping nights. Pay rates to be reviewed after successful completion of probation or equivalent period.

Driver required:
Essential (will need own car to get to work)
Driving Clients Car:
Yes, our client's Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle (WAV), automatic
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes: 
To attend training
Essential Experience:
Previous experience of working with children/young adults with Cerebral Palsy.
Experience working with children/young adults with trauma and an interest in therapy
2 dogs
Accommodation (while on duty):
Fully adapted family home, with separate Carer's entrance and Carer's own kitchen facilities.

Larry, born in 2003, is a very sociable young man with a good sense of humour.  He lives at home with his family.  He attends a special school 5 days a week and is a very keen football supporter of Burnley FC; he likes to go to watch a match whenever he can.  He enjoys playing computer games and watching TV, particularly Sky Sports.  He also enjoys listening to music especially when he is getting ready for bed and getting dressed in the morning.
Larry has Cerebral Palsy, and is severely physically disabled, however he is very bright. He is dependent in all daily living activities and requires a high level of assistance to undertake these.  This role is to work within his current team to provide Larry with support (including personal care) and assistance with his college work and leisure activities. You will also be expected to implement daily therapeutic programmes designed to promote his development by his team of Therapists, and have a general role in promoting his learning, care and independence both at home and in the community.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to join a dedicated home care team, develop existing skills and support this very special young man. Pay and Benefits:
£9.00 per hour Weekdays and £11.00 per hour Weekends (To be reviewed after successful completion of probation or equivalent period)

5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata

About You

It would be great to receive your application, if you have the following skills/behaviours:

  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Larry’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Larry's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team

  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)
