Days & Hours: 
36 hours - Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leaveBank hours to cover for absences of other Support Workers, could be required at short notice.
Pay:
From £12 per hour Monday to Sunday 'Waking Hours'
£NLW (£8.91 for aged 23 and over) per hour Monday to Thursday 10:00pm - 6am ; and Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10:00pm- 8am sleeping nights
£18 per hour Bank Holidays 'Waking Hours'
Time and a half £NLW (£8.91 for aged 23 and over) per hour Bank Holiday Sleeping Nights

Essential Experience:
complex medical needs, PEG feeding, communication with clients with limited verbal communication, providing therapies, moving and handling experience.
Desirable:
Experience working with children with additional needs and an interest in therapy, supporting a child through waking nights.

Tanya, born in 2009, is a fun loving young lady who lives at home with her parents She has an older brother at University locally.  She enjoys hydrotherapy and swimming sessions, and is very sociable.  In school holidays, she attends day activities 3 days a week.

Tanya has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair for all her mobility.  She requires a full support programme, is fed via PEG and uses some eye gaze technology to communicate.

Supported for 24 hours a day on a 2:1 care regime, Tanya requires Support Workers to help with all daily living tasks as well as engaging in social events.  An understanding in Peg feeding, medication giving, manual handling, using specialist equipment, epilepsy and communication aids is an advantage although training can be given.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team, along with a Case Manager and Therapists to help to develop existing skills and support this very special little girl.  A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:
£12.00 per hour waking hours, £NLW (£8.91 for aged 23 and over) sleeping hours 
On-going training & support provided
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
Free DBS check.

About You

  • *Female due to providing personal care
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Tanya’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Tanya's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner

  • Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice
  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
