About The Role

Location: Rainham, Essex (will be moving in April 2022 to Cheshunt, Herefordshire)
Days & Hours:
Up to 36 hours per week, to be worked flexibly, typical shifts would be between the hours of, Monday - Friday 3pm-10pm during Term Time, Weekends 6.30am-10pm and School Holidays. 6am-10pm. 
Pay: Weekdays
£13.50-£16.00 per hour dependent on experience

Essential (will need own car to get to work)
Driving Clients Car?
Yes, Eesa's wheelchair adapted vehicle, automatic (Volkswagen Caravelle)
Using Own Vehicle for work purposes?
No

Essential Experience:
Working with children with Cerebral Palsy and usage of a PEG feeding tube
Desirable:
Experience working with children with special needs and an interest in therapy
Accommodation (while on duty):
 Fully adapted family home.
Interviews Week Commencing: As and when applications are received
Start Date: ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks)

Eesa, born in 2010, lives at home with his parents and 2 siblings and has wider family who live close by.  He engages well in play and very much enjoys this.  He likes to look at large picture books and watching television, his favourite shows are any programmes that involve songs.  He also like visits to the playground to play on the swing.

Eesa has profound and multiple learning difficulties from birth and requires complete assistance and guidance with all aspects of his daily living, learning and care tasks.
Your role would be to meet all aspects of care and support relating to Eesa during after school hours, weekends and during the school holidays (hours are listed above).  To implement care as advised by his parents and team of therapists and record information relating to this as advised.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special little boy. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.

Pay and Benefits:
£13.50-£16.00 per hour dependent on experience
On-going training & support provided
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
Sick leave entitlement

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

  • On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department

About You

  • *Female due to religion/culture
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Cerebral Palsy
  • Confident and comfortable working in Eesa’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Eesa's needs
  • Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner
  • A team player who understands the importance of feedback to qualified members of the team

  • Experience with PEG feeding

  • Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate

  • Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice
  • A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
