About The Role

Location: Currently in Abbey Wood but moving to Bromley, South East London

Pay and Benefits: Monday to Friday - £13.50 per hour, Weekends £14.50 per hour and Bank Holidays £18.00 per hour  Support/supervisions, 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata, DBS check, full induction, relevant and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate) On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.
Hours: 
During term time: Monday – Friday 4pm – 7.30pm and Saturdays: 10am – 4pm.  During school holiday time the hours will increase and discussed by Sharon's parents or the Case Manager.

Essential: Supporting children with Cerebral Palsy and aware of emotional, behavioural, and cognitive difficulties.
Desirable: Experience working with children with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Interviews and Start Date
As and when applications are received, these may be carried out by video interview and looking to start as soon as possible however will wait for the right applicant (subject to satisfactory employment checks) 

Sharon, born in 2005, lives with her family.  Loves spending time with people and especially outdoors.  She enjoys music, TV and watching orchestras, Beethoven is her favourite and also listening to buskers in the street.  She loves regularly spending time in a warm hydrotherapy pool.  She is not a fan of silence!  She has an engaging smile and an infectious laugh.

Sharon has Cerebral Palsy along with multiple learning and behavioural difficulties and epilepsy.  She is independently mobile but can be quite unsteady and has a wheelchair for outdoor use, she has no sense of danger and can sometimes tire easily.  She requires a Support Worker to help with all aspects of personal care, daily living and learning.

You will be joining a small care team where you will be taking direction from Sharon's parents and the Case Manager to ensure that she receives all the care she needs.  Sharon will require assistance with all of her daily living and household chores, you will need to keep Sharon engaged at all times.

Main Skills and Behaviours

You should have experience of working with someone who has cerebral palsy, profound and multiple learning and behavioural difficulties and be able to work with specialist equipment, (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.  

Naturally, you will be confident and comfortable working in Sharon's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family.  By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have encouraging approach.

Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Sharon will rely on so this is key in supporting her and water confident to assist with hydrotherapy.
