£11.22 - £14.79 Per hour
About The Role
Location: Christchurch
Pay and Benefits:
Monday to Friday - £11.22 per hour
Saturday £14.28 per hour,
Sunday £14.79 per hour
5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata, DBS check, full induction, relevant and ongoing training (including The Care Certificate) On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department.
Hours: Various hours in accordance with the rota, due to the nature of the role, some may require covering at short notice.  24 hour care in place.

Essential : Supporting adults with Acquired Brain Injury and aware of emotional, behavioural, and cognitive difficulties.
Driver -
You will be required to drive Francis' car.  There are no animals in the family home however when visiting parents they do have a dog.
Desirable: Experience working with adults with trauma and an interest in therapy.

Interviews and Start Date: As and when applications are received, these may be carried out by video interview and looking to start as soon as possible however will wait for the right applicant (subject to satisfactory employment checks) 

Francis, born in 1975, is very independent by nature and enjoys accessing the community and travelling.  He is a huge fan of music and loves to go to gigs and concerts, along with a varied range of activities he also enjoys, he is very friendly and has an easy-going outlook.  He lives in his own bungalow and is supported by a team of Support Workers; his parents live close by and see Francis on a regular basis.

Francis sustained a brain injury which resulted in significant cognitive deficits and physical disabilities, he makes use of an attendant controlled wheelchair.  He is virtually blind in his left eye with reduced mobility.  With support, he leads a full, active and happy life.

You will be joining a small care team where you will be taking direction from the Team Leader to ensure that Francis receives all the care he needs. Francis will require assistance with all of his daily living and household chores.

Main Skills and Behaviours
You should have experience of working with someone who has acquired brain injury and be able to work with specialist equipment, (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.

Naturally, you will be confident and comfortable working in Francis’ own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family.  By nature, you should be friendly, approachable and have encouraging approach.

Great organisational skills, punctual, patient, and reliable qualities are something Francis will rely on so this is key in supporting him.

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client or their Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.  However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.  Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
